FILM: Chariots of fire (pg)
The olympic feel-good classic on the big screen for one night only!
This Olympic year, catch this uplifting true story, four-time Oscar winner and enduring British classic with unforgettable Vangelis score at The Barn Theatre’s big screen with Dolby Surround Sound.
It’s the 1924 Paris Olympics and two British track athletes, one a determined English Jew, and the other a devout Scottish Christian, are underdog outsiders preparing to take on the world. This beautiful drama follows as the men wrestle with issues of pride and conscience and, though a combination of self sacrifice and moral courage, somehow find the strength to win.
Nominated for seven Oscars and winner of four, including Best Picture 1982 and Best Score. Ben Cross and Ian Charleston star as Abrahams and Liddell, alongside Nigel Havers, Ian Holm and John Gielgud. Kenneth Branagh and Stephen Fry make their debuts in minor roles.
