How To Live Like A Stoic

Tom Hodgkinson
Stoicism is one of the world’s oldest and most radical philosophies, originating in
ancient Greece and built on a combination of theoretical wisdom and practical advice for everyday life. Its leading figures range from wise Emperor Marcus Aurelius to former slave Epictetus and its lessons have inspired everything from Christianity to mindfulness via Shakespeare, Ghandi and The Beatles. Tom Hodgkinson, editor of the iconic Idler Magazine, introduces us to some of stoicism’s world-changing ideas and biggest personalities and – in these times of trouble – urges us to ditch the doom scrolling and ‘let it be’. Chaired by Festival Director, Jess Yarrow.
