Bach By Candlelight

Orchestra Of The Age Of Enlightenment
Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment is one of the world’s leading period instrument ensembles with residencies at the Southbank Centre and Glyndebourne. Join us in Cirencester’s majestic 12th-century wool church as they open this year’s festival with a candlelit programme devoted to the extraordinary Bach family. Discover how the high Baroque, epitomised by Johann Sebastian, gave way to the Classical age through the works of his sons and cousins, Johann Ludwig, Johann Christoph Friedrich and Johann Christian. Together, their music traces a remarkable period of transition in European culture, as complexity and counterpoint yielded to new ideals of clarity and expression. Not to be missed!
